Race Recaps
Another Ticco-Johnson battle provided another exciting finish in the 20 lap feature. After contact between #24 Al Fisher and #94 Bryce Davis resulted in the races' only caution, which saw Bryce Davis get towed off and Al Fisher go pit side before returning to take the green again, #65 Mike Ticco got by #07 "Racer" Nick Crassi who led the first three laps. Ticco had a comfortable lead on the pack but as the race went on #99 T.J. Johnson was gaining ground with each lap, particularly in turn three. Late in the race Johnson would get a nose under Ticco going into the corner as they raced side-by-side and then coming out of turn four take the lead by a nose heading into turn one. Ticco held the high line and would regain the lead coming out of turn two.
Al Fisher pulled his car into the infield on lap 15 with mechanical trouble surrendering third place after having gotten by Scott Jarrell, Nick Crassi, and Jason Gwin by the mid way point of the race after the lap 3 restart. On the final circuit Johnson made one last attempt at the lead and made slight contact with Ticco's fender getting the #65 loose coming off of turn four. Johnson would lift as Ticco corrected his car which looked to be headed for the wall and went on to win his second LAMOT race in a row.
LAMOT newcomer #75 Scott Jarrell would start on the pole and go on to improve on last week's fifth place finish by holding off Nick Crassi to take third at the checkers in his second race of the year. Although rookie driver Bryce Davis suffered enough damage to not finish the race it did not appear serious and he should be ready to go for the final race. This marks the only time in 2008 that a LAMOT car was unable to finish due to an on-track incident.
After five races T.J. Johnson remains in sole possession of first place in the points race, but going into the last race of the season on September 13, both Mike Ticco and Al Fisher are still mathematically in championship contention.

Double points were on the line for LAMOT in the mid-season championship event. Late Model and Asphalt rookie Bryce Davis in the #94 Bradley Supply Ford Fusion started on the pole for the twenty lap LAMOT feature and led nearly the whole first half of the race while the pack shuffled positions behind him. #65 Mike Ticco and last race's winner #99 T.J. Johnson were in hot pursuit of Davis as #24 Al Fisher was battling with #07 "Racer" Nick Crassi for the fourth spot. Al Fisher's Plum Crazy Chevrolet suffered serious damage a few weeks ago in practice and was very busy leading up to race night along with his crew, friends, and fellow competitor team members putting a new Late Model together to stay in championship contention.
Heading into turn one on lap 9 Mike Ticco dove
under Bryce Davis to wrestle the lead away with T.J. Johnson quick in tow moving
up to second. With five laps to go Al Fisher, now up to third, began realing in
the leaders of Ticco and Johnson, creating a fierce battle for the runner up
spot. Meanwhile, #75 Scott Jarrell, in his first LAMOT appearence jumped into
the top five after working by Nick Crassi. Late race contact in turn three
between Fisher and Johnson slowed their momentum as Ticco was within reach. As
the checkers flew in the caution free event Ticco had a .2 second lead on
Johnson picking up his first career Holland Speedway feature victory in the #65
MAT Service Snowplowing and Landscaping Dodge Charger.
With only two LAMOT features left, T.J. Johnson has sole possession of first
place, with Al Fisher trailing by only four points.

The #99 Trank Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by T.J. Johnson jumped out to an early lead from the outside on lap one. As the laps ran down the #65 of Mike Ticco started closing the gap while two time LAMOT winner #24 Al Fisher battled his way up to the third position. Meanwhile, veteran racer #07 Nick Crassi, and Late Model rookies #30 Jason Gwin and #94 Bryce Davis fought over the two remaining top five spots. A caution with five laps to go doubled up the field one more time but T.J. Johnson was able to get a good start and cruised to his first victory of 2008. After three races the points lead is now tied with five races remaining.
