$1,000 to Win for the Upcoming 50 Lap Races
The LAMOT Board of Directors met for the first time in 2012 on January 15th. Topics discussed at the meeting included but not limited to were the tires to be used, the 50 lap event purses, and an addition to the board of directors and schedule.
The division will remain on Goodyear tires in 2012. Last season there was a setback in the tire compound. The tires were not lasting as long as they had in the previous three seasons. Representatives from Goodyear were made aware of the issue during the season. As a way to compensate the teams Goodyear gave four tires to each LAMOT team. Recent discussions with Goodyear representatives in 2012 indicate that there was a error in the formula used to make the tires last season and that it has been addressed. Due to the overall success LAMOT has had with the tires over four seasons and the attention and service Goodyear has displayed, the division will be using the same model for 2012. The 12 tire limit per team for the season will remain in place.
The plan to add special races has been in the works for some time and the board is pleased to now have the pieces put in place. Soon after Holland Speedway selected the appropriate dates the board began working on an adequate purse to match the race distance. The winners of the 50 lap events scheduled for June 2nd and August 11th will take home $1,000. The extra funding for the purses are provided by LAMOT sponsors and are a token of appreciation to our teams for their continued dedication to late model racing in the divisionís 5th year of competition. Some new teams are expected in what should be another year of growth.
Andy Ticco was added to the board of directors. Ticco is the web editor for lamotracing.com and has been involved in various aspects of the division since it began in 2008. Any further changes to the board will be announced.
The LAMOT division wishes to thank Race of Champions (ROC) Modified Tour Promoter Andrew Harpell for adding the late models to the list of events on June 30th. The return of the ROC Modifieds to Holland brings an additional race to the track schedule making the tentative total number of LAMOT races fifteen for the year. The race is co-promoted with the Bennett family and should be an exciting summer evening of racing under the lights at the high banks of Holland.
The updated 2012 Rulebooks were added to the website late December of 2011.
