The LAMOT Late Model division began as an idea in the fall of 2007 as a way to make weekly racing more affordable and competitive. In the Spring of 2008 LAMOT became incorporated by Gordy Trank. It was created by a group of current and former drivers, team owners, and tech inspectors. Over the winter a set of rules was put together with the goal of making the division more affordable for teams looking to move up to a Late Model and less expensive to run weekly. As a way to combat the  week to week costs that have hindered asphalt racing greatly LAMOT instituted the use of a longer lasting tire, and using pump instead of race fuel. Nascar sanctioned Holland Speedway, a 3/8 high banked oval track, located in Western New York, agreed to schedule 12 events in 2008 with a purse of $200 per car, $125 for last place.
